Being Self-Employed: Generating Traffic To Your Site with RSS
Being in business entails not only providing a good, service or product it also entails bookkeeping, in some cases inventory management, shipping and handling and the ever necessary/ongoing need for effective marketing. For the most part, my expertise lies with eCommerce or eBusiness and conducting business/communications online. That being said let's focus on RSS as an effective and useful marketing tool for both business and sheer communication purposes. What it is: RSS, also known as Really Simple Syndication, is a Web feed format that 'broadcasts' frequently updated websites. These can be blogs, newsletters, articles, photo galleries and even 'daily specials!' In really simple syntax, RSS is a method of sharing your updated content from your website throughout the entire internet population. Usefulness: RSS provides an extremely useful benefit of automatically alerting your current readers/customers along with the search engines [where new readers/customers, etc. are looking for you] of all new, aka fresh, material that you have to offer. While blogging in it's purest form requires submitting posts to distribution services, utilizing RSS makes this simpler while it increases your search engine rankings. In the world of pro-blogging and blogging in general if you want your material to reach a larger audience, search engine rankings are high priority. WebPreneurs will find RSS mandatory for marketing goods, services or products to create and maintain high search engine rankings: high rankings can guarantee a steady stream of potential customers to your site as well as keep satisfied customers abreast of new developments with your business! How to implement: Many of the best website development software products come with an RSS feed 'burner' option built in! You simply build your site, click on the 'add RSS feed' option and the code is generated allowing your uploaded site to go 'live' right from the server! If you are a blogger and are using any of the more popular blogging platforms/software such as WordPress, Blogger, b2Evolution, and TypePad to name a few, they already have the RSS feed option built in. Additionally, WordPress and b2Evolution can be used on your own server, i.e., as your website software with the RSS feature and many more useful marketing options. There are also 'feed burner' services that you provide your 'url' to which then supplies you with a code to past to your site/page that you want to be syndicated. They also 'list' your 'url' info in their 'lineup' of feed subscribers. Some useful free services include RapidFeeds, FeedBurner and FeedForAll. For those of you that are 'do-it-yourselfer' there is XML code that can be inserted into your site's pages that you want syndicated. A good site to get the code from is, About.com and there are countless others to be found with a simple Winzy search. Including RSS to your online presence whether it be your business website, blog, Digg, MySpace or other outlet will promote you automatically in ways that mimic the world war II newsreel that preceded the feature presentation at the movies! It's nearly as effective as having a radio or TV ad without the cost! In a nutshell, its Syndication Simple and Real! YE is Here! YEisHere.com! Money “DA” Easy Way!
